The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 4 minutes, Luiz Fábio Toledo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ceará S.A's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fábio Toledo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Luiz Fábio Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luiz Fábio Toledo in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Maurício Rocha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luiz Fábio Toledo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maurício Rocha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. Maurício Rocha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luiz Fábio Toledo's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. The Ceará S.A fans' excitement grew in the 35th match minute when Ceará S.A's Luiz Fábio Toledo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Virgílio Fontes came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Ceará S.A fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Virgílio Fontes couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Mostarda EC's zone, Luiz Fábio Toledo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maurício Rocha came out of the goal and Luiz Fábio Toledo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Maria Loyola stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Maurício Rocha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Fábio Toledo in the 57th minute of the match. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Mostarda EC's goalkeeper Maurício Rocha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luiz Fábio Toledo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 64thth minute, Maurício Rocha skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Paranaense in the 70th minute of play forced Ceará S.A's goalkeeper Germano Lira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Virgílio Fontes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Maurício Rocha was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Luiz Fábio Toledo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-5 in the 74 minute of play. After having played for 80 minutes, Joel Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ceará S.A's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Germano Lira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Maria Loyola, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. When Oswaldo Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ceará S.A's protests and gave Oswaldo Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. In the 87th minute, Oswaldo Rocha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Germano Lira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Maria Loyola in the 88th minute of the match. Luiz Fábio Toledo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Maurício Rocha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mostarda EC's Maurício Rocha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Mostarda EC from getting a goal against them. 95 minutes into the game, Reginaldo Paraense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mostarda EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ceará S.A the free kick. In the 95th minute, Reginaldo Paraense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Ceará S.A's Luiz Fábio Toledo in 96 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Maurício Rocha guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Ceará S.A played a much better game than Mostarda EC and deserved their victory. The Mostarda EC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
