The referee ignored Val Hallar's protests and gave Ernani Rosado a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Val Hallar getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Augusto Proença got free with Wilson Marquez in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Descalvado FC's zone, Dino Fernandes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Orlando Hoffmann came out of the goal and Dino Fernandes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Orlando Hoffmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dino Fernandes in the 20th minute of the match. When Leonardo Proença fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Fabrício Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fabrício Fontes in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Orlando Hoffmann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 47 minutes, Fabrício Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Val Hallar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabrício Fontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Germano Pinho to make the kick off. Edmundo Bezerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orlando Hoffmann having to interfere. Orlando Hoffmann made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Fabrício Fontes sent off a good shot on target.
