After having played for 5 minutes, Kiko Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rubro Negro Rj's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kiko Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fernando Paiva made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Kiko Neves sent off a good shot on target. Rubro Negro Rj's Abel Fontes managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Zézinho Catarinense in the 7 minute of the game. If Oscar Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fernando Paiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelsinho Lago in the 24th minute of the match. In the 26th minute, Rubro Negro Rj's Nelsinho Lago ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Fernando Paiva. Fernando Paiva yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Kiko Neves scored 3-0 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernando Paiva, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nelsinho Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Fernando Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fernando Paiva made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kiko Neves in the 35th minute. After 39 played minutes Educandos got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Hoffmann. Fernando Paiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelsinho Lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ulisses Meira during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 48 minutes into the match, Educandos's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Lago came free, but Fernando Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Miguel Hoffmann made the kick off in the second half. Nelsinho Lago recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Kiko Neves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fernando Paiva was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Bernardo Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A hard shot by Zézinho Catarinense from long distance, 65 minutes into the match, got Paulo Domingues's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 68th minute, Nelsinho Lago got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Educandos's Fernando Paiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelsinho Lago in the 70th minute of play. If Ivo Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Educandos's Miguel Hoffmann got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nelsinho Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Paiva having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Kiko Neves ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fernando Paiva was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. Rubro Negro Rj walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
