The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Alberto Silva during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 3rd match minute, Val Hallar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Alberto Silva to maneuver through the defense. Célio Simão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dino Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Célio Simão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmundo Bezerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dino Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Simão having to interfere. 10 minutes into the game, Val Hallar's Edmundo Bezerra nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Célio Simão made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Edmundo Bezerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Simão having to interfere. Edmundo Bezerra succeeded in the game's 16th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. When Val Hallar's Dino Fernandes in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Célio Simão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Bezerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. When the match clock showed 29 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Dino Fernandes sped through Sabiuca's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Célio Simão. The supporters of Sabiuca booed when Val Hallar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Alberto Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 35 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Dino Fernandes sped through Sabiuca's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Célio Simão. 38 minutes into the match, Sabiuca's goal looked a bit too open when Fabrício Fontes came free, but Célio Simão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 42 minutes into the match, José Maria Fontes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Célio Simão. Sabiuca's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that José Maria Fontes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-6. After a defensive mix-up in Sabiuca's zone, Fabrício Fontes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Célio Simão came out of the goal and Fabrício Fontes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sabiuca's Célio Simão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Maria Fontes in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dino Fernandes to strike the kick off in the second half. Sabiuca's Célio Simão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dino Fernandes in the 52nd minute of play. Dino Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Alberto Silva might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Célio Simão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Alberto Silva ran back to his position shaking his head. Fabrício Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Célio Simão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Célio Simão made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Edmundo Bezerra sent off a good shot on target. Célio Simão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmundo Bezerra in the 59th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Edmundo Bezerra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Célio Simão was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. Val Hallar's Dino Fernandes got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dino Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Simão having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Edmundo Bezerra reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Célio Simão. The goal made the score 0-8. When the match was over Val Hallar could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sabiuca throughout the match.
