Tião Pombal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Simão having to interfere. 9 minutes into the match, Sabiuca's goal looked a bit too open when Tião Pombal came free, but Célio Simão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Luiz Paulo de Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the game, Duarte Lago was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sabiuca's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave GladiadoresFC the free kick. The supporters of GladiadoresFC booed when Sabiuca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duarte Lago didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Tião Pombal came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the GladiadoresFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tião Pombal couldn't finish the play. Gildo Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gildo Lago's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Célio Simão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gildo Lago in the 23rd minute of play forced Sabiuca's goalkeeper Célio Simão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th match minute, Sabiuca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duarte Lago to maneuver through the defense. If Tião Pombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tião Pombal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Jefferson Torres hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Serafim Porto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Diamantino Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 57 minutes, Serafim Porto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sabiuca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Serafim Porto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Diamantino Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serafim Porto in the 59th minute of the match. 71 minutes into the match, Sabiuca's goalkeeper Célio Simão had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tião Pombal. Célio Simão made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Tião Pombal sent off a good shot on target. Célio Simão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gildo Lago in the 82nd minute of play. After 87 minutes of play, Sabiuca's Emílio da Costa made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Diamantino Carvalho was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Sabiuca's Serafim Porto in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye GladiadoresFC's goalie prevented a goal. Tião Pombal who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 95thth minute tested the skills of Célio Simão when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Sabiuca's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
