Rubinho Cunha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Fábio Teles made a huge save. Edgar Moura struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Paulo José Baiano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ipucaba. Fábio Teles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubens Mendonça in the 22nd minute of play. 23 minutes into the match, Ipucaba's goalkeeper Fábio Teles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rubinho Cunha. Marcelo Andrade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo José Baiano having to interfere. Jean Leal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Paulista United's Paulo José Baiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Belmiro Pernambucano in the 35th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcelo Andrade in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulo José Baiano saved Paulista United from getting behind. 38 minutes into the match, Ipucaba's Belmiro Pernambucano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulo José Baiano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 40th minute Gugu Cruz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fábio Teles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Edgar Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ipucaba's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgar Moura was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo José Baiano was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Fabiano Mandrak showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 58 minute of play. 65 minutes into the match, Paulista United's goal looked a bit too open when Belmiro Pernambucano came free, but Paulo José Baiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Ipucaba's Marcelo Andrade slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Paulo José Baiano. That made the score 1-4 after 66 minutes of play. The audience was convinced that Belmiro Pernambucano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulo José Baiano was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. The supporters of Ipucaba booed when Paulista United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rubinho Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Andrade in the 81st minute of play forced Paulista United's goalkeeper Paulo José Baiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match was over Ipucaba could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Paulista United throughout the match.
