Spectators: 7204 (Terracing: 5405, Seating: 1656, VIP seats: 143) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Gilberto Cavalcante started the match with the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelo Magalhães in the 10th minute of play forced Sartubin's goalkeeper Adrianinho Ribeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abel Xavier hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Atlético MS's Cristian Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Renato Lago in the 13th minute of play. Cícero Meirelles took the ball and in the 15 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Adrianinho Ribeiro. Adrianinho Ribeiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. A collision led to Atlético MS getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Leopoldo Motta hit a great ball. Cícero Meirelles who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Adrianinho Ribeiro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 24 minutes into the match, Sartubin's Gilberto Cavalcante sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cristian Chaves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 26 minutes into the game, Paulo Renato Lago cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Cristian Chaves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Abel Xavier fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atlético MS's protests and gave Abel Xavier a yellow card for diving instead. After 29 played minutes Atlético MS got a freekick which was hit by Abel Xavier. Paulo Renato Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto Cavalcante in the 36th minute of play forced Atlético MS's goalkeeper Cristian Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gilberto Cavalcante got in the 37th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Cristian Chaves handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. 43 minutes into the game, Dorian Figueiredo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sartubin's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético MS the free kick. After 43 played minutes Sartubin got a freekick which was hit by Dorian Figueiredo. Cícero Meirelles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Ribeiro having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, Gilberto Cavalcante notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Atlético MS's Cristian Chaves. Cristian Chaves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Sartubin were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Angelo Magalhães stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Paulo Renato Lago struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Cristian Chaves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sartubin. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sartubin's goalkeeper Adrianinho Ribeiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Angelo Magalhães got free in front of the goal in the 64th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Adrianinho Ribeiro was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Angelo Magalhães took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Adrianinho Ribeiro. Adrianinho Ribeiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Denílson Paulista charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Denílson Paulista the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Denílson Paulista kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. In the 76th minute, Enio Severo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience held their breath when Wanderson Matos in the 78th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Cristian Chaves's left hand side. In the 79th minute, one of Sartubin:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sartubin. In the 89th minute, Gilberto Cavalcante fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Cristian Chaves, passed just outside the right post. With a little luck, Atlético MS's Cristian Chaves got control of the ball when Paulo Renato Lago tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 95th match minute, Atlético MS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leopoldo Motta to maneuver through the defense. Cristian Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilberto Cavalcante in the 96th minute of the match. Sartubin's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
