An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlinhos Fantini in the 35th minute of play forced PALMEIRAS's goalkeeper Samuel Pitta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Falcão Simões showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amílton Arce in the 41st minute of the match. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fernandinho Massa to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Coral defense, Artur Miranda kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Falcão Simões. The Coral fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Falcão Simões should have stopped the shot. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Artur Miranda couldn't finish the play. In the 95th minute, Albertinho Abraão left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Coral fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. PALMEIRAS's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
