Rogério de Senna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Urbano having to interfere. After 10 minutes, Ronaldo Lara mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galatasaray and the Convento FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Convento FC booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronaldo Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cléberson Cruz in the 14th minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Adrianinho Urbano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The throw-in from Wilton Breckenfeld in the 19th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Galatasaray's Armindo da Cunha. Galatasaray's Adrianinho Urbano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cléberson Cruz in the 22nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cléberson Cruz in the 24th minute of play forced Galatasaray's goalkeeper Adrianinho Urbano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ademir Madureira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Juninho Cerezo made a huge save. Adrianinho Urbano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cléberson Cruz, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Rogério de Senna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 46 played minutes Convento FC got a freekick which was hit by Dudu do Vale. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Geraldo Dantas made the kick off in the second half. If Geraldo Dantas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 53 minutes into the game, Galatasaray's Saul Paio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Juninho Cerezo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The supporters of Galatasaray booed when Convento FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robinho Salgado didn't get a good kick on the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Convento FC's goal looked a bit too open when Geraldo Dantas came free, but Juninho Cerezo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Adolfo Ramalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute, Cléberson Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adrianinho Urbano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dudu do Vale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 68 played minutes Galatasaray got a freekick which was hit by Geraldo Dantas. Alexsandro Cardoso kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. When Dudu do Vale came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Convento FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dudu do Vale couldn't finish the play. After 73 played minutes Galatasaray got a freekick which was hit by Alexsandro Cardoso. 82 minutes into the match, Galatasaray's goal looked a bit too open when Dudu do Vale came free, but Adrianinho Urbano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geraldo Dantas scored 2-0 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Juninho Cerezo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a little luck, Galatasaray's Adrianinho Urbano got control of the ball when Robinho Salgado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Adrianinho Urbano came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Convento FC's Rogério de Senna. But to his dismay, Rogério de Senna quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. In the 95th minute Alexsandro Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juninho Cerezo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dudu do Vale during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 97th minute, Dudu do Vale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Convento FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
