Muriaé FC's João de Godoi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diamantino Brasil in the 3rd minute of play. In the 9th minute, Arthur de Amaral got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 11 minutes, Arthur de Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PAYSANDU's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arthur de Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Muriaé FC's João de Godoi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diamantino Brasil in the 13th minute of play. In the 15th minute, Arthur de Amaral ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João de Godoi was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After some careless play in the Muriaé FC defense, Arthur de Amaral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João de Godoi. The Muriaé FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João de Godoi should have stopped the shot. PAYSANDU's Arthur de Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arthur de Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. João de Godoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Diamantino Brasil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 32 minutes, Arthur de Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Enio Arce kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. João de Godoi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diamantino Brasil in the 39th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Enio Arce during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 41 played minutes Muriaé FC got a freekick which was hit by Enio Arce. When Arthur de Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the PAYSANDU fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arthur de Amaral couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cléberson Pimenta to strike the kick off in the second half. João de Godoi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arthur de Amaral in the 52nd minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 58th minute of the game. One of PAYSANDU:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Muriaé FC:s goal. In the 61st minute, Diamantino Brasil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 63 minutes into the match, PAYSANDU's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Perez came free, but Simão Siqueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 64thth minute of the game Diamantino Brasil who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Muriaé FC's João de Godoi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Muriaé FC's João de Godoi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diamantino Brasil in the 74th minute of play. If Diamantino Brasil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cléberson Pimenta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Diamantino Brasil was extremely unlucky when he, in the 80th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The supporters of PAYSANDU booed when Muriaé FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Augusto Sanches didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 91st minute by Diamantino Brasil got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 93rd match minute, Muriaé FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Augusto Sanches to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Muriaé FC's João de Godoi got control of the ball when Arthur de Amaral tried to sneak it across the goal line. Diamantino Brasil might have been able to make a better finish in the 99th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over João de Godoi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Diamantino Brasil ran back to his position shaking his head.
