In the 32nd match minute, Coppini FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baltazar Rezende to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Lauro Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Coppini FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Lauro Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The supporters of Taxistas Futebol Clube booed when Coppini FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelsinho Saldanha didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lauro Godoi to make the kick off.
