José Augusto Souza made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 13th match minute, Murucupi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edvaldo Simões to maneuver through the defense. Murucupi's José Augusto Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vitinho Pimenta in the 19th minute of play. José Augusto Souza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Ceresso in the 21st minute of play. A collision led to Rio Branco E.C. getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. João Paulo Hermes hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vitinho Pimenta in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Augusto Souza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edvaldo Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilton Barreto having to interfere. Nilton Barreto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Farid Priem, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. In the 39th minute, Daniel Britto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Farid Priem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Nilton Barreto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Augusto Souza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from João Paulo Hermes went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Emanuel Araújo kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. José Augusto Souza was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Matheus Moreira. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rio Branco E.C.'s goalkeeper Nilton Barreto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alfredo Ceresso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Augusto Souza read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Nilton Barreto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Farid Priem in the 60th minute of the match. Rio Branco E.C.'s Nilton Barreto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Araújo in the 62nd minute of play. 63 minutes into the game, Ricardinho Senna was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rio Branco E.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Murucupi the free kick. After having played for 70 minutes, Farid Priem managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Murucupi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Farid Priem was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alfredo Ceresso was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 73rd minute. Rio Branco E.C.'s manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. José Augusto Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vitinho Pimenta, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Vitinho Pimenta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. José Augusto Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. João Paulo Hermes hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. The attack was good, but when Farid Priem in the 88th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Farid Priem recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the final whistle went the supporters of Rio Branco E.C. were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Murucupi side.
