A collision led to Chiba getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Telmo Mota hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Anderson Barros's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Noel Madureira was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Marcel Pena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilmar Bastos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Noel Madureira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anderson Barros's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Chiba's zone, Renatinho Branco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Noel Madureira came out of the goal and Renatinho Branco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Noel Madureira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Renatinho Branco in the 41st minute of the match. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Anderson Barros made a kick off. Noel Madureira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Murillo Monteiro in the 58th minute. Oeste's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Anderson Barros in the 59th minute. Wesley Secco was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. If Valério Quirino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Renatinho Branco kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Noel Madureira. That made the score 0-1 in the 88 minute of play.
