In the 18th minute, Didi Hoffmann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 21 minutes into the game, Norberto Meireles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gigoul FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grêmio the free kick. A collision led to Gigoul FC getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Norberto Meireles hit a great ball. Dalmo Mandrak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mateus Rezende, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After 38 played minutes Pedrão Leme scored with a long sweeping shot just to the left of Dalmo Mandrak who was too lazy, 1-0. After 43 played minutes Grêmio got a freekick which was hit by Valdir Cardoso. In the 44th minute of the match Agnaldo Vale sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cléberson Jacinto skillfully saved the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When Eriberto Lira came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Grêmio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eriberto Lira couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Mateus Rezende's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dalmo Mandrak was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. When Mateus Rezende came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Grêmio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mateus Rezende couldn't finish the play. Mateus Rezende received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Dalmo Mandrak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 61st match minute, Grêmio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eriberto Lira to maneuver through the defense. Dalmo Mandrak made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mateus Rezende in the 65th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Gigoul FC's zone, Mateus Rezende stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dalmo Mandrak came out of the goal and Mateus Rezende tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 71 played minutes Gigoul FC got a freekick which was hit by Agnaldo Vale. Pedrão Leme took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 72nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dalmo Mandrak. Gigoul FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Didi Hoffmann got free with Cléberson Jacinto in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Didi Hoffmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 82nd minute, Mateus Rezende got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 87th minute, Eriberto Lira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dalmo Mandrak was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Dalmo Mandrak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mateus Rezende, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mateus Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Gigoul FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Grêmio.
