In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Itapipoca SS's goalkeeper Osmar da Silveira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Itapipoca SS's Osmar da Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erivaldo da Rocha in the 39th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Benjamim Ramos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itapipoca SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Benjamim Ramos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tomás Carvalho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Itapipoca SS were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Erivaldo da Rocha made a kick off. Osmar da Silveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lenílson Guerra in the 52nd minute of the match. Osmar da Silveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lenílson Guerra in the 54th minute of play. When Claudinho Toscano fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Unidade Popular's protests and gave Claudinho Toscano a yellow card for diving instead. The Unidade Popular fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Manuel Dante during the 72nd minute. Claudinho Toscano kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Delfim Tróia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Tomás Carvalho made a huge save. There was no doubt that Unidade Popular were the better team. Unidade Popular's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
