The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Valdemar das Neves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rio Negro do Norte's Ronaldão Pontes got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luiz Gustavo do Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edvaldo Coutinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duarte Tróia having to interfere. Duarte Tróia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francisco Montenegro in the 20th minute. Rio Negro do Norte's Duarte Tróia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Moura in the 23rd minute of play. In the 25th minute, Luisinho Hermes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Valdemar das Neves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 31 minutes into the match, Rio Negro do Norte's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Moura came free, but Duarte Tróia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Manuel Moura's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Duarte Tróia was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Rio Negro do Norte's Adriano Baiano got a free kick in the 35th minute. Duarte Tróia made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Francisco Montenegro sent off a good shot on target. Valdemar das Neves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luiz Gustavo do Vale stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Ronaldo Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oswaldo Ceresso kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Manuel Moura in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Duarte Tróia saved Rio Negro do Norte from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manuel Moura in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Duarte Tróia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 72 played minutes Rio Negro do Norte got a freekick which was hit by Geovânio Capixaba. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Moura in the 74th minute of play forced Rio Negro do Norte's goalkeeper Duarte Tróia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd minute, Ronaldo Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luiz Gustavo do Vale could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Cássio Ramos made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Peladeiros's zone, Ronaldo Duarte stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cássio Ramos came out of the goal and Ronaldo Duarte tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Peladeiros's Edvaldo Coutinho got a free kick in the 93rd minute. After 94 played minutes Peladeiros got a freekick which was hit by Luís Fernando Sabóia. In the 96th minute of the match Ronaldo Duarte shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cássio Ramos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
