In the 4th minute Almir Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osmar Vidal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Almir Couto in the 5th minute of play forced Grêmio FBPA's goalkeeper Osmar Vidal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Doriva Veloso came free, but Osmar Vidal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 11th minute, Almir Couto made a precise shot to the right of Osmar Vidal. Grêmio FBPA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Osmar Vidal came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Bar Sem Lona Society's Almir Couto. But to his dismay, Almir Couto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. After 22 played minutes Bar Sem Lona Society got a freekick which was hit by Waldir Marquez. 25 minutes into the match, Bar Sem Lona Society's goal looked a bit too open when Natanael Furlan came free, but Agnaldo Paraíba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Almir Couto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osmar Vidal having to interfere. Wellington Alagoano hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute, Geovanni Andrade got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 32nd match minute, Grêmio FBPA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldemar Ceresso to maneuver through the defense. In the 36th minute there was a penalty for Bar Sem Lona Society. Patrick do Valle stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Osmar Vidal. 0-4. Osmar Vidal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Almir Couto, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. In the 43rd minute Doriva Veloso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osmar Vidal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Doriva Veloso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Osmar Vidal was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. Osmar Vidal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Almir Couto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Doriva Veloso to make the kick off. Almir Couto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osmar Vidal having to interfere. Almir Couto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Osmar Vidal made a huge save. In the 59th minute, Waldemar Ceresso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 61stth minute of the game Doriva Veloso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grêmio FBPA's Osmar Vidal was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nuno Pimenta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Agnaldo Paraíba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Doriva Veloso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Osmar Vidal was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. With a little luck, Grêmio FBPA's Osmar Vidal got control of the ball when Almir Couto tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Doriva Veloso came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Bar Sem Lona Society fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doriva Veloso couldn't finish the play. Almir Couto might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Osmar Vidal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Almir Couto ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Almir Couto in the 83rd minute of play forced Grêmio FBPA's goalkeeper Osmar Vidal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Osmar Vidal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Doriva Veloso in the 84th minute of play. Grêmio FBPA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Almir Couto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio FBPA's zone, Almir Couto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Osmar Vidal came out of the goal and Almir Couto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
