The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Ramiro das Neves fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Abaitinga FC's protests and gave Ramiro das Neves a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd minute, Ramiro das Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nildo Terra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kajetan Gmoch having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tony Lucas in the 13th minute of play forced Abaitinga FC's goalkeeper Kajetan Gmoch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ancari AD's Dedê Amaral pulled a muscle in his back after 14 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Geovani Lira during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 18th minute Nildo Terra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kajetan Gmoch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led Ancari AD's Bruninho Goiano to fire away a dangerous shot which Kajetan Gmoch despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Nildo Terra came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Ancari AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nildo Terra couldn't finish the play. If Nildo Terra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 30 minutes into the game, Ulisses Mello recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Wesley Gaúcho. Ulisses Mello showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The supporters of Abaitinga FC booed when Ancari AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Lucas didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Geovani Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Abaitinga FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Geovani Lira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wesley Gaúcho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 41st minute, Luís Fábio Alvarenga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abaitinga FC's Kajetan Gmoch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruninho Goiano in the 42nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Abaitinga FC's zone, Alfredo Lucas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kajetan Gmoch came out of the goal and Alfredo Lucas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nildo Terra in the 47th minute of play forced Abaitinga FC's goalkeeper Kajetan Gmoch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 56th match minute, Ancari AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tony Lucas to maneuver through the defense. 58 minutes into the match, Abaitinga FC's goalkeeper Kajetan Gmoch had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nildo Terra. Geovani Lira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 65th minute, Ramiro das Neves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ulisses Mello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nildo Terra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 79 minutes into the match, Abaitinga FC's goalkeeper Kajetan Gmoch had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nildo Terra. The supporters of Ancari AD booed when Abaitinga FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovani Lira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wesley Gaúcho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramiro das Neves in the 84th minute of play. Ramiro das Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
