The supporters of Atlético Céu Azul booed when Assungui EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano de Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maicon Jacinto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Augusto de Moraes in the 17th minute of the match. After 18 played minutes Assungui EC got a freekick which was hit by Cristiano de Alcântara. Assungui EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético Céu Azul the free kick. After a rather tough play, Assungui EC's Doni Souza got a free kick in the 26th minute. Atlético Céu Azul's Olívio Meira couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 26th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Assungui EC. Adriano Velloso was shown his second yellow card after 27 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 30th minute Zé Augusto de Moraes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maicon Jacinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maicon Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Augusto de Moraes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonardo Peres in the 34th minute of play forced Assungui EC's goalkeeper Maicon Jacinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Atlético Céu Azul fans' excitement grew in the 35th match minute when Atlético Céu Azul's Zé Augusto de Moraes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 38 played minutes Atlético Céu Azul got a freekick which was hit by Olívio Meira. Zé Augusto de Moraes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Maicon Jacinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leonardo Peres's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maicon Jacinto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Márcio de Castro to make the kick off. After 53 played minutes Assungui EC got a freekick which was hit by Doni Souza. Maicon Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fernando Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maicon Jacinto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leonardo Peres in the 55th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Zé Augusto de Moraes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Maicon Jacinto. That made the score 0-3 in the 71 minute of play. Zé Augusto de Moraes was extremely unlucky when he, in the 75th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 76th minute, Zé Augusto de Moraes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 79th minute, Luiz Fernando Silveira fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Augusto de Moraes in the 81st minute of play forced Assungui EC's goalkeeper Maicon Jacinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maicon Jacinto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonardo Peres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 84 minutes into the game, Atlético Céu Azul's Leonardo Peres nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Maicon Jacinto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. In the 90th minute, Oséias Godoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zé Augusto de Moraes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Maicon Jacinto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maicon Jacinto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Augusto de Moraes, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. With a little luck, Assungui EC's Maicon Jacinto got control of the ball when Leonardo Peres tried to sneak it across the goal line. Atlético Céu Azul played a much better game than Assungui EC and deserved their victory. The Assungui EC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
