Spectators: 7220 (Terracing: 5416, Seating: 1661, VIP seats: 143) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Carlos Eduardo Correia took the kick off in the first half of the match. Horácio Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Eduardo Correia in the 4th minute of the match. In the 6th minute Luís Fábio de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isaltino Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luís Fábio de Azevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Silvério Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Polungu SS's Luís Fábio de Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Silvério Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 17 minutes, Luís Fábio de Azevedo made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Avante FC's Isaltino Peixoto tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Clóvis Mangueira kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. If Carlos Eduardo Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horácio Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Eduardo Correia in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Luís Fábio de Azevedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvério Capixaba in the 33rd minute of play forced Avante FC's goalkeeper Isaltino Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 35 minutes, Silvério Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Polungu SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Silvério Capixaba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 36 minutes into the match, Avante FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Fábio de Azevedo came free, but Isaltino Peixoto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 37 minutes into the game, Laerte de Medeiros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Avante FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Polungu SS the free kick. After 37 played minutes Avante FC got a freekick which was hit by Laerte de Medeiros. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luís Fábio de Azevedo in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Isaltino Peixoto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Luizinho Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Avante FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luizinho Teixeira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Horácio Cabral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

In the 54th minute, Polungu SS's Silvério Capixaba ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Isaltino Peixoto. Isaltino Peixoto yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. After 58 minutes, Serafim Sanches mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Avante FC and the Polungu SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. Serafim Sanches hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. After 62 played minutes Silvério Capixaba rounded Avante FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-3. After 67 minutes, Glauco Vieira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Polungu SS and the Avante FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience was convinced that Carlos Eduardo Correia's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Horácio Cabral was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Luizinho Teixeira might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Horácio Cabral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luizinho Teixeira ran back to his position shaking his head. Carlos Eduardo Correia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Luizinho Teixeira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Horácio Cabral was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. In the 81st minute, Luizinho Teixeira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Polungu SS's Sílvio Luís Barbosa got a free kick in the 84th minute. In the 87th minute of the match Avante FC got a corner. Polungu SS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Kléber Souto ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Kléber Souto got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Horácio Cabral quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Carlos Eduardo Correia in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Horácio Cabral prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Horácio Cabral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Eduardo Correia, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Carlos Eduardo Correia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Horácio Cabral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Polungu SS eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
