After having played for 18 minutes, Gildo Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Corinthians Paulista's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gildo Varela was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Codorna do Agreste's zone, Isaltino Palmeira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sidnei Marquez came out of the goal and Isaltino Palmeira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot 90 in the game by Ismael Paiva from a close distance when the talented Sidnei Marquez managed to make a qualified save. Codorna do Agreste's players were relieved. If Isaltino Palmeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. SC Corinthians Paulista's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
