The referee ignored Foz FC's protests and gave Jarbas Velasco a yellow card for diving instead. After 11 played minutes Foz FC got a freekick which was hit by Jarbas Velasco. If Carlinhos Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nelson Sá fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Vander having to interfere. Nelson Sá received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Adrianinho Vander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32nd match minute, Foz FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jarbas Velasco to maneuver through the defense. Diamantino Linares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlinhos Ramos in the 37th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlinhos Ramos in the 39th minute of play forced Foz FC's goalkeeper Diamantino Linares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Carlinhos Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Clóvis Goiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Adrianinho Vander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When Hugos Arts Club's Arnaldo de Godoi in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Foz FC's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlinhos Ramos in the 53rd minute of play forced Foz FC's goalkeeper Diamantino Linares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Hugos Arts Club's zone, Jailson Freitas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adrianinho Vander came out of the goal and Jailson Freitas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlinhos Ramos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diamantino Linares having to interfere. Foz FC's Clóvis Goiano got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arnaldo de Godoi got free with Diamantino Linares in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Clóvis Goiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrianinho Vander having to interfere. Carlinhos Ramos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Foz FC defense, Arnaldo de Godoi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Diamantino Linares. The Foz FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Diamantino Linares should have stopped the shot. Carlinhos Ramos might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Diamantino Linares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlinhos Ramos ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 85thth minute of the game Carlinhos Ramos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Foz FC's Diamantino Linares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 89 minutes, Diamantino Linares successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 92nd minute Carlinhos Ramos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diamantino Linares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
