Tucune FC's Reynaldo Vander got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Avante FC's Isaltino Peixoto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Vander in the 10th minute of play. Osvaldinho Vaz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isaltino Peixoto having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, Tucune FC's Osvaldinho Vaz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Isaltino Peixoto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Reynaldo Vander struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Isaltino Peixoto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tucune FC. After 23 minutes of play, Tucune FC's Osvaldinho Vaz made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Isaltino Peixoto was left in no man's land by his defense there! After having played for 27 minutes, Reynaldo Vander managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tucune FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reynaldo Vander was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Osvaldinho Vaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes into the game, Tucune FC's Reynaldo Vander nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Isaltino Peixoto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 44th minute Reynaldo Vander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isaltino Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, Tucune FC's goalkeeper Gildo Coutinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luizinho Teixeira. In the 47th minute, Avante FC's Carlos Eduardo Correia dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reynaldo Vander to make the kick off. Reynaldo Vander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Isaltino Peixoto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Tucune FC fans' excitement grew in the 61st match minute when Tucune FC's Reynaldo Vander looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 67 minutes into the game, Germano Sanches was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Avante FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tucune FC the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reynaldo Vander in the 76th minute of play forced Avante FC's goalkeeper Isaltino Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Carlos Eduardo Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Osvaldinho Vaz got free with Isaltino Peixoto in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Tucune FC's Beto Maranhense got a free kick in the 86th minute. In the 87th minute of the match Kléber Souto sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gildo Coutinho skillfully saved the ball. Reynaldo Vander received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Isaltino Peixoto came out and tried to block the shot, but Reynaldo Vander slotted it home off the left post making it 1-5 in the 88th minute. Avante FC's Isaltino Peixoto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Vander in the 93rd minute of play. Osvaldinho Vaz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 97thth minute tested the skills of Isaltino Peixoto when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Tucune FC's Reynaldo Vander in the 98th minute got a chance for a shot 98th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Avante FC's goalie prevented a goal. When the final whistle sounded Tucune FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Avante FC.
