When Douglas Fonseca fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Morrinho SC's protests and gave Douglas Fonseca a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Costa Rica Esporte Clube booed when Morrinho SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Douglas Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as José Pedro Mangueira kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Fernandinho de Salles. That made the score 2-0 in the 30 minute of play. A hard shot 35 in the game by Tarcisio Arce from a close distance when the talented Fernandinho de Salles managed to make a qualified save. Morrinho SC's players were relieved. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, José Pedro Mangueira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica Esporte Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but José Pedro Mangueira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernandinho de Salles breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fernandinho de Salles made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tarcisio Arce in the 42nd minute. When José Pedro Mangueira came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Costa Rica Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Pedro Mangueira couldn't finish the play. Tarcisio Arce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Fernandinho de Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If José Pedro Mangueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Pedro Mangueira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Morrinho SC's Fernandinho de Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Pedro Mangueira in the 52nd minute of play. Fernandinho de Salles came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Costa Rica Esporte Clube's Tarcisio Arce. But to his dismay, Tarcisio Arce quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Morrinho SC's Fernandinho de Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tarcisio Arce in the 62nd minute of play. If Tarcisio Arce had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66thth minute of the game José Pedro Mangueira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Morrinho SC's Fernandinho de Salles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. José Pedro Mangueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernandinho de Salles having to interfere. In the 70th match minute, Morrinho SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frédson Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. In the 71st minute, José Pedro Mangueira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fernandinho de Salles was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. 78 minutes into the game, José Pedro Mangueira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Fernandinho de Salles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 82nd minute, José Pedro Mangueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Morrinho SC's Frédson Nascimento got a free kick in the 84th minute. After having played for 87 minutes, Tarcisio Arce managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica Esporte Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tarcisio Arce was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fernandinho de Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tarcisio Arce in the 91st minute of the match. In the 97th minute, Tarcisio Arce made a precise shot to the right of Fernandinho de Salles. Morrinho SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Costa Rica Esporte Clube had played much better football throughout.
