If Durval Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 13th match minute, Trigolandia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardinho de Sousa to maneuver through the defense. João Augusto Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Flávio Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Universidade Capixaba's Eliézer Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidnei Sanches in the 19th minute of play. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Trigolandia's goalkeeper Flávio Alcântara, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Augusto Amorim in the 25th minute of play forced Trigolandia's goalkeeper Flávio Alcântara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Augusto Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Flávio Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Chicão Cruz during the 31st minute. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sidnei Sanches stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Trigolandia's Bernardinho de Sousa got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bernardinho de Sousa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sidnei Sanches received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Eliézer Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Trigolandia's Sidnei Sanches sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eliézer Neves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luiz Gustavo Pirani hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. In the 71st minute, Luiz Gustavo Pirani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Edvaldo de Salles from long distance, 71 minutes into the match, got Eliézer Neves's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 75 minutes into the match, Bernardinho de Sousa notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Universidade Capixaba's Eliézer Neves. Eliézer Neves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd rose to their feet as Trigolandia's Bernardinho de Sousa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Eliézer Neves. That made the score 1-2 after 78 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidnei Sanches in the 81st minute of play forced Universidade Capixaba's goalkeeper Eliézer Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Sidnei Sanches came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Trigolandia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sidnei Sanches couldn't finish the play. Sidnei Sanches received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Eliézer Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 99 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Trigolandia's Sidnei Sanches fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. The Trigolandia supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Trigolandia would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
