Emanuel Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osmar Mazza having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Guayra's zone, Emanuel Simões stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Osmar Mazza came out of the goal and Emanuel Simões tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 9 minutes into the match, Guayra's goal looked a bit too open when Emerson Vaz came free, but Osmar Mazza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Guayra booed when Jaiobazinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristóvão Sampaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute Emerson Vaz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osmar Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Juninho Godoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Jaiobazinho's Dedê Guimarães got control of the ball when Juninho Godoi tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 31stth minute of the game Emerson Vaz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guayra's Osmar Mazza was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Emerson Vaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Osmar Mazza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emerson Vaz went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Osmar Mazza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Simões, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juninho Godoi couldn't finish the play. The Guayra supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Jaiobazinho's performance. The match ended with a win for Jaiobazinho.
