But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Josué Xavier couldn't finish the play. 16 minutes into the game, Jorginho Rossi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ELOC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Estremo SS the free kick. After 16 played minutes ELOC got a freekick which was hit by Jorginho Rossi. When Kléberson Meira fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ELOC's protests and gave Kléberson Meira a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Estremo SS booed when ELOC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kléberson Meira didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Estremo SS's Pedrão Abraão proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Estremo SS from getting a goal against them. After 55 played minutes ELOC got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Guimarães. In the 57th minute, Dieguinho Lago got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Wanderson Chaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 96 minutes ELOC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Paulão do Valle who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Paulão do Valle almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but ELOC's Samuel de Toledo did a great save.
