Goyandira's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Enrique de Godoi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 10th minute Clemente Ortiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Secco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clemente Ortiz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Secco having to interfere. João Paulo de Senna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Clemente Ortiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Antunes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Vergílio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 31 played minutes Goyandira got a freekick which was hit by João Paulo de Senna. In the 33rd minute Luís Paulo Branco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th minute Tiago Gabriel Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clemente Ortiz struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Francisco Secco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Goyandira. Giuseppe Cardoso took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Francisco Secco. Francisco Secco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Francisco Secco was out of position in the 41 minute of play, and Clemente Ortiz capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Clemente Ortiz really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Enrique de Godoi might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luís Antunes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Enrique de Godoi ran back to his position shaking his head. Goyandira's Luís Antunes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique de Godoi in the 48th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Clemente Ortiz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Francisco Secco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clemente Ortiz in the 53rd minute of play. 55 minutes into the match, Goyandira's goalkeeper Luís Antunes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Armando Vergílio. Luís Antunes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enrique de Godoi in the 56th minute of the match. When Clemente Ortiz came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Goyandira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clemente Ortiz couldn't finish the play. Fabinho Bueno charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabinho Bueno the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Fabinho Bueno hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. In the 66th match minute, Goyandira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eurico Vaz to maneuver through the defense. Armando Vergílio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Antunes having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Cléberson Seco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Enrique de Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itainopolis AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Enrique de Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Antunes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Juarês Secco fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Goyandira's protests and gave Juarês Secco a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Goyandira's Juarês Secco got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Armando Vergílio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 79th minute, Enrique de Godoi reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Luís Antunes. The goal made the score 2-2. The referee gave Itainopolis AD a penalty, 85 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Laerte Barros, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Goyandira's Luís Antunes. 2-3. Luís Antunes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enrique de Godoi in the 91st minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Armando Vergílio got free with Luís Antunes in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luís Antunes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Armando Vergílio in the 97th minute. Itainopolis AD's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
