The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Osmar Freire came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Baluarte FC's Carlos Alberto Cardoso. But to his dismay, Carlos Alberto Cardoso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Carlos Alberto Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the match, BlackLions FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Alberto Cardoso came free, but Osmar Freire reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute, Carlos Alberto Cardoso made a precise shot to the right of Osmar Freire. BlackLions FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Carlos Alberto Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute, Wilson Matos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. BlackLions FC's Osmar Freire played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Cardoso in the 25th minute of play. Osmar Freire made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilson Matos in the 34th minute of play. The supporters of Baluarte FC booed when BlackLions FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eriberto Pontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. 41 minutes into the match, BlackLions FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Alberto Cardoso came free, but Osmar Freire reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Carlos Alberto Cardoso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Osmar Freire was relentless in the 47th minute of the game.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wanderson Gomes was the one to do the kick off. Baluarte FC's Váldson Terra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ulysses Botelho in the 51st minute of play. Carlos Alberto Cardoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. After a rather tough play, BlackLions FC's Cristóvão Saraiva got a free kick in the 60th minute. Baluarte FC's José Carlos Mesquita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Osmar Freire in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 65 minutes into the game, Carlos Alberto Cardoso lined in a short shot 0-3 behind a frustrated Osmar Freire. Wilson Matos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osmar Freire having to interfere. In the 72nd minute of the match, Wilson Matos got a very nice opportunity to score, but Osmar Freire was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Carlos Alberto Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wilson Matos got free with Osmar Freire in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 77 minutes into the game, Osvaldo de Alcântara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BlackLions FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Baluarte FC the free kick. In the 77th match minute, BlackLions FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldo de Alcântara to maneuver through the defense. José Carlos Mesquita, 78 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 81 minutes into the match, BlackLions FC's goalkeeper Osmar Freire had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wilson Matos. Osmar Freire made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Wilson Matos sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Alberto Cardoso in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Osmar Freire saved BlackLions FC from getting behind. In the 90th minute, Wilson Matos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Baluarte FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. In the 96th minute, Dráuzio Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Róbson Arósio, 97 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The BlackLions FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Baluarte FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
