The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Júlio Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nuno Luz in the 3rd minute of play. In the 9th minute, Anselmo Mendonça hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nuno Luz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 15th minute Bernardo Valadares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Perivaldo Pombal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pacova's Júlio Salgado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Tande in the 19th minute of play. Alfredo Tande fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júlio Salgado having to interfere. A collision led to Lauro getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Gernando Fontes hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the game, Serginho Novaes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lauro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pacova the free kick. 30 minutes into the game, Lauro's Alfredo Tande nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Júlio Salgado made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gernando Fontes in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Júlio Salgado saved Pacova from getting behind. Nuno Luz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alfredo Tande sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 45th minute, Nuno Luz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Júlio Salgado was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2.

The supporters of Pacova booed when Lauro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gernando Fontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bernardo Valadares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 58th minute, Matheus da Cunha sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Lauro's Perivaldo Pombal didn't even have to move. In the 67th minute Nuno Luz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Salgado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Glauco Leite charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Glauco Leite the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After recieving a nice pass, Lauro's Dé Fonseca tried to score from far away in the 71st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Arantes in the 73rd minute of play forced Lauro's goalkeeper Perivaldo Pombal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfredo Tande received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Júlio Salgado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pacova's Glauco Leite got his second yellow card of the match in the 78th minute. The referee ordered Glauco Leite off the ground. After a rather tough play, Pacova's Glauco Leite got a free kick in the 78th minute. After having played for 85 minutes, Nuno Luz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lauro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nuno Luz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Lauro walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
