The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee ignored CCDCFC's protests and gave Zé Paulo Ortiz a yellow card for diving instead. After 5 played minutes CCDCFC got a freekick which was hit by Zé Paulo Ortiz. Inácio Capixaba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tony Aparecido's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. In the 7th match minute, CCDCFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Nunes to maneuver through the defense. Osvaldo Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tadeu Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Vila Nova F.C's zone, Alex Nunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Osvaldo Souza came out of the goal and Alex Nunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. CCDCFC's Raúl de Sousa managed to work through Vila Nova F.C's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Raúl de Sousa dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The audience was convinced that Raúl de Sousa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Osvaldo Souza was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. 23 minutes into the game, Tadeu Costa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Inácio Capixaba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tony Aparecido in the 52nd minute of the match. Raúl de Sousa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tadeu Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Osvaldo Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. CCDCFC's Alex Nunes got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Alex Nunes managed to get in a good position for a shot. CCDCFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alex Nunes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Osvaldo Souza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Raúl de Sousa scored 2-3 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Osvaldo Souza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tadeu Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Osvaldo Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
