After some careless play in the Bagre Ensaboado FC defense, José Vítor de Andrade kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mazinho Zonta. The Bagre Ensaboado FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mazinho Zonta should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Franca SC booed when Bagre Ensaboado FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arlindo Pombal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Franca SC's Leonel Travassos got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. José Vítor de Andrade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mazinho Zonta having to interfere. 30 minutes into the game, Osvaldinho Abreu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bagre Ensaboado FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Franca SC the free kick. In the 30th match minute, Bagre Ensaboado FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldinho Abreu to maneuver through the defense. In the 31st minute, Leonel Travassos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell André Meireles to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Arlindo Pombal made a precise shot to the right of Percy Matos. Franca SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Percy Matos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronaldinho Barros in the 58th minute of the match. After 62 played minutes Leonel Travassos rounded Bagre Ensaboado FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-4. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Franca SC's goalkeeper Percy Matos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arlindo Pombal during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Percy Matos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 82nd match minute, Franca SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franklin das Neves to maneuver through the defense. 83 minutes into the match, Bagre Ensaboado FC's Augusto Pinho broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Bagre Ensaboado FC's Mazinho Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonel Travassos in the 90th minute of play. Mazinho Zonta made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when José Vítor de Andrade sent off a good shot on target. 96 minutes into the match, Franca SC's goal looked a bit too open when André Meireles came free, but Percy Matos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Franca SC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
