The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ernesto Santos's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 3rdth minute, Fernandinho Tavares skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When CFC's Flávio Nunes in 5 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Raúl Queiroz guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. In the 11th minute, Nestor Lopez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flávio Nunes succeeded in the game's 15th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. After having played for 19 minutes, Ernesto Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Belmonte's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ernesto Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. CFC's Fernandinho Tavares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save CFC from getting a goal against them. 22 minutes into the match, Belmonte's goal looked a bit too open when Flávio Nunes came free, but Raúl Queiroz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Flávio Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedro Luís Passos struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Raúl Queiroz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CFC. A collision led to CFC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Nestor Lopez hit a great ball. 30 minutes into the match, Belmonte's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Luís Passos came free, but Raúl Queiroz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute Joaquim Ramalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernandinho Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joaquim Ramalho in the 41st minute of play forced CFC's goalkeeper Fernandinho Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Nestor Lopez managed to get in a good position for a shot. CFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Nestor Lopez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raúl Queiroz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 47 minutes into the match, CFC's goalkeeper Fernandinho Tavares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ernesto Santos. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Joaquim Ramalho made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to CFC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Ronaldo Cardozo hit a great ball. Luiz Gustavo Neves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 65th minute, Franklin Pombal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 67 minutes of play, Belmonte's Joaquim Ramalho made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fernandinho Tavares was left in no man's land by his defense there! Flávio Nunes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 78 minutes into the match, Belmonte's goal looked a bit too open when Flávio Nunes came free, but Raúl Queiroz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flávio Nunes in the 80th minute of play forced Belmonte's goalkeeper Raúl Queiroz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Flávio Nunes kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. In the 86th minute, Joaquim Ramalho made a precise shot to the right of Fernandinho Tavares. CFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. If Pedro Luís Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Belmonte fans cheered their team off the field, for while CFC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
