Spectators: 7173 (Terracing: 5406, Seating: 1657, VIP seats: 110) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Carlos Fernando Lopez started the match with the kick off. Carlos Fernando Lopez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cafu de Queiroz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. After 5 minutes, Délio Ferreira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Araranguá EC and the Polenta FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Araranguá EC's Délio Ferreira got a free kick in the 5th minute. 6 minutes into the match, Polenta FC's Jorge Neiva broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a rather tough play, Araranguá EC's Oscar Prata got a free kick in the 7th minute. Cafu de Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeferson Nogueira in the 16th minute of play. After some careless play in the Araranguá EC defense, Carlos Fernando Lopez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cafu de Queiroz. The Araranguá EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cafu de Queiroz should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by André Arantes during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Fernando Lopez in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cafu de Queiroz saved Araranguá EC from getting behind. Carlos Fernando Lopez took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cafu de Queiroz. Cafu de Queiroz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Breno Araújo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Anselmo Moreira showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 30 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomás Lima got free with Breno Araújo in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 37 minutes into the match, Polenta FC's Carlos Fernando Lopez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cafu de Queiroz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Carlos Fernando Lopez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cafu de Queiroz having to interfere. Jeferson Nogueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Polenta FC's Jorge Neiva got a free kick in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Anselmo Moreira was the one to do the kick off. Carlos Fernando Lopez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Araranguá EC's Anselmo Moreira got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Polenta FC's zone, Tomás Lima stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Breno Araújo came out of the goal and Tomás Lima tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cafu de Queiroz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Fernando Lopez in the 73rd minute of the match. 75 minutes into the game, Carlos Fernando Lopez recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cafu de Queiroz. Carlos Fernando Lopez showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Tomás Lima recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 89th minute of the game. One of Araranguá EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Polenta FC:s goal. When Tomás Lima came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Araranguá EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomás Lima couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle sounded Polenta FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Araranguá EC.
