Spectators: 7222 (Terracing: 5418, Seating: 1661, VIP seats: 143) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Manfredo Furlan kicked off to start the match. Alberto de Lima came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Santos F C's Dieguinho Carneiro. But to his dismay, Dieguinho Carneiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Freixal's Alberto de Lima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antônio Carlos Xavier in the 11th minute of play. Freixal's Elder Palmeira got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Freixal's Zé Roberto Viana got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Freixal booed when Santos F C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dieguinho Carneiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 17 played minutes, Freixal's Percival Pimenta shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hortêncio Trigo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Freixal reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elder Palmeira in the 19th minute of play forced Santos F C's goalkeeper Hortêncio Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 22nd minute, Dorival Vale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Elder Palmeira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hortêncio Trigo was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. 26 minutes into the match, Freixal's goalkeeper Alberto de Lima had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Osvaldinho Maranhense. The crowd rose to their feet as Antônio Carlos Xavier kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alberto de Lima. That made the score 2-0 in the 27 minute of play. Alberto de Lima made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dieguinho Carneiro in the 32nd minute. After some careless play in the Freixal defense, Osvaldinho Maranhense kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alberto de Lima. The Freixal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alberto de Lima should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Freixal's Vitinho Sena got a free kick in the 35th minute. 37 minutes into the match, Santos F C's Dorival Vale broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 39th minute Elder Palmeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hortêncio Trigo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute, Antônio Carlos Xavier left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Santos F C fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Alberto de Lima took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manfredo Furlan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elder Palmeira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 58 minutes of play, Freixal's Elder Palmeira made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hortêncio Trigo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Alberto de Lima showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldinho Maranhense in the 63rd minute of the match. With a little luck, Santos F C's Hortêncio Trigo got control of the ball when Percival Pimenta tried to sneak it across the goal line. 69 minutes into the match, Santos F C's goal looked a bit too open when Elder Palmeira came free, but Hortêncio Trigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 69th match minute, Freixal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Roberto Viana to maneuver through the defense. Hortêncio Trigo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elder Palmeira in the 74th minute of play. Hortêncio Trigo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elder Palmeira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hortêncio Trigo made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Percival Pimenta sent off a good shot on target. After 80 minutes of play, Santos F C's Osvaldinho Maranhense made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alberto de Lima was left in no man's land by his defense there! Hortêncio Trigo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elder Palmeira's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. In the 90th minute, Manfredo Furlan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hortêncio Trigo stood somewhat misplaced when Elder Palmeira came free in front of goal and shot 5-2 to the left of him in the 94 minute. Santos F C's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
