The Parnaiba FC fans' excitement grew in the 9th match minute when Parnaiba FC's Manoel Camargo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Manoel Camargo came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Parnaiba FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manoel Camargo couldn't finish the play. Dorival Vasconcelos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Válter Abreu in the 15th minute of the match. Chicão Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manfredo Recife, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th minute of the match, Válter Abreu tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dorival Vasconcelos saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Benê Sá sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Manfredo Recife had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th minute, Egídio Magalhães hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 41st minute Parnaiba FC were awarded a corner. Nico Xavier went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Nico Xavier almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ayapua's Dorival Vasconcelos did a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manfredo Recife in the 42nd minute of play forced Parnaiba FC's goalkeeper Chicão Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Ayapua booed when Parnaiba FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Augusto Peres didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manfredo Recife to strike the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Parnaiba FC got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Luiz Lucas. Chicão Fonseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manfredo Recife, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvinho Motta during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Ayapua getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Silvinho Motta hit a great ball. 65 minutes into the match, Parnaiba FC's Válter Abreu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dorival Vasconcelos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dorival Vasconcelos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Válter Abreu in the 74th minute of the match. When Ricardo Siqueira fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Parnaiba FC's protests and gave Ricardo Siqueira a yellow card for diving instead. After 85 played minutes Parnaiba FC got a freekick which was hit by Manoel Camargo. In the 90th minute Manoel Camargo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dorival Vasconcelos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manoel Camargo in the 95th minute of play forced Ayapua's goalkeeper Dorival Vasconcelos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dorival Vasconcelos came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by Parnaiba FC's Manoel Camargo. But to his dismay, Manoel Camargo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0.
