The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Ernesto Arruda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Agnaldo Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 13 minutes into the match, OLIVA's Rogério Alves sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dito Dias narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hernani Siqueira charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hernani Siqueira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. If Amadeu Leme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. Bernardo Vergílio kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. 45 minutes into the match, Moura13's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeu Leme came free, but Dito Dias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rogério Alves received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dito Dias came out and tried to block the shot, but Rogério Alves slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 46th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
