After a defensive mix-up in Parnaiba FC's zone, Isaltino Furlan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chicão Fonseca came out of the goal and Isaltino Furlan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 22nd minute of the match Bernardo Vergílio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chicão Fonseca showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Válter Abreu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Válter Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rodriguinho Oliveira charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rodriguinho Oliveira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 30 played minutes OLIVA got a freekick which was hit by Rodriguinho Oliveira. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogério Alves in the 32nd minute of play forced Parnaiba FC's goalkeeper Chicão Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of OLIVA booed when Parnaiba FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Luiz Lucas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 37 minutes into the match, Parnaiba FC's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeu Leme came free, but Chicão Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Rogério Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Amadeu Leme's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Chicão Fonseca was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. After 44 minutes of play, OLIVA's Amadeu Leme made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chicão Fonseca was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Parnaiba FC booed when OLIVA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitório Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Amadeu Leme was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Amadeu Leme in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chicão Fonseca saved Parnaiba FC from getting behind. After having played for 53 minutes, Rogério Alves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. OLIVA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rogério Alves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Parnaiba FC's Chicão Fonseca got control of the ball when Rogério Alves tried to sneak it across the goal line. Chicão Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeu Leme, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute Válter Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Agnaldo Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 63rd minute, OLIVA's Amadeu Leme dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. 71 minutes into the game, Francisco Neto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Parnaiba FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave OLIVA the free kick. 70 minutes into the game, one of Parnaiba FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Chicão Fonseca, was totally fooled by OLIVA's Caio Ferraz, who 73 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 76thth minute of the game Amadeu Leme who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Parnaiba FC's Chicão Fonseca was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Parnaiba FC's goalkeeper Chicão Fonseca, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Amadeu Leme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Amadeu Leme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 96th minute OLIVA were awarded a corner. Caio Ferraz went to the cornerflag to take it. Vivaldo Queiroz made a great header on OLIVA's corner, it was just that Parnaiba FC's Chicão Fonseca managed to reach the ball for a save. Agnaldo Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Luiz Lucas in the 98th minute of the match. OLIVA's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
