The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Agnaldo Neto came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Paulina FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agnaldo Neto couldn't finish the play. Dito Vergílio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Agnaldo Neto's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. Tomás Madureira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ernesto Massa hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. 17 minutes into the match, Paulina FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tomás Madureira came free, but Delfim Vaz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Arruda in the 23rd minute of play forced Tricolor dos Pampas FC's goalkeeper Dito Vergílio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wilton Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Delfim Vaz managed to avoid a goal in the 29thth minute, when Tricolor dos Pampas FC's Wilton Lago fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. José Arruda struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Dito Vergílio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paulina FC. In the 33rd minute, Reginaldo Pinheiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomás Madureira received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Delfim Vaz came out and tried to block the shot, but Tomás Madureira slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 37th minute. Wilton Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Delfim Vaz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If José Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomás Madureira to strike the kick off in the second half. Dito Vergílio made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Agnaldo Neto sent off a good shot on target. Dito Vergílio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Arruda, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 62 minutes into the match, Tricolor dos Pampas FC's goal looked a bit too open when José Arruda came free, but Dito Vergílio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wilton Lago recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 78 minutes into the match, Paulina FC's Agnaldo Neto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dito Vergílio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Agnaldo Neto struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Dito Vergílio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paulina FC. If José Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ernesto Massa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dito Vergílio having to interfere. Agnaldo Neto's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dito Vergílio firmly grabbed it by the left post. Agnaldo Neto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Dito Vergílio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If José Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Many of Paulina FC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Paulina FC may have spent more time on the ball, but Tricolor dos Pampas FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
