Rubens Bezerra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If José Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agnaldo Netos short, quick shot in the 16thth minute got Roberto Pinheiro to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 17 minutes into the match, Coca Na Tulipa's goalkeeper Roberto Pinheiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agnaldo Neto. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Coca Na Tulipa's goalkeeper Roberto Pinheiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Eriberto Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Vaz having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eriberto Cearense in the 29th minute of play forced Paulina FC's goalkeeper Delfim Vaz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Eriberto Cearense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Delfim Vaz was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Eriberto Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Vaz having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Rubens Bezerra managed to get in a good position for a shot. In a very dangerous position, a player in Paulina FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! Delfim Vaz went to the wrong direction when Luiz Guilherme de Queirós was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. In the 45th minute, Ernesto Massa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 47 minutes, Rubens Bezerra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Coca Na Tulipa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubens Bezerra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eriberto Cearense stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Roberto Pinheiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Agnaldo Neto went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Delfim Vaz was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Fernandinho Travassos. 57 minutes into the match, Coca Na Tulipa's Eriberto Cearense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Delfim Vaz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rubens Bezerra's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 60thth minute, Delfim Vaz skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 82nd minute Eriberto Cearense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Delfim Vaz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Guilherme de Queirós was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 85th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After 90 minutes of play, Paulina FC's José Arruda made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Roberto Pinheiro was left in no man's land by his defense there!
