The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Tabai's Rui Leme got a free kick in the 6th minute. The supporters of Tabai booed when Rio de Janeiro F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Renan de Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute, one of Rio de Janeiro F. C.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Rio de Janeiro F. C.. After some careless play in the Rio de Janeiro F. C. defense, Ulysses de Amaral kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Fernando Maia. The Rio de Janeiro F. C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Fernando Maia should have stopped the shot. When Benedito de Toledo came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Rio de Janeiro F. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benedito de Toledo couldn't finish the play. Ulysses de Amaral's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 26thth minute, Carlos Fernando Maia skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Ulysses de Amaral in the 28thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Carlos Fernando Maia, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Benedito de Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Rio de Janeiro F. C.'s Renan de Senna got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Tabai's Ulysses de Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rio de Janeiro F. C.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 36th minute, when Ulysses de Amaral scored to the left of an out of position Carlos Fernando Maia, making the score, 3-0. Ulysses de Amarals short, quick shot in the 42ndth minute got Carlos Fernando Maia to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ulysses de Amaral made a kick off. Tabai's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Caco da Mata in the 53rd minute. Clóvis Vieira thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Carlos Fernando Maia, a very annoying self made goal in the 53rd minute which led to 4-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ulysses de Amaral in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Fernando Maia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Benedito de Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benedito de Toledo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Diguinho Montenegro kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Renan de Senna hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Carlos Fernando Maia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ulysses de Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 76 minutes, Renan de Senna mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rio de Janeiro F. C. and the Tabai players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 76th match minute, Rio de Janeiro F. C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Renan de Senna to maneuver through the defense. 77 minutes into the game, Rui Leme was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tabai's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rio de Janeiro F. C. the free kick. After 78 played minutes Tabai got a freekick which was hit by Rui Leme. Renan de Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Tabai's Hamílton Guerra got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ulysses de Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Carlos Fernando Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Fernando Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ulysses de Amaral in the 88th minute of the match. When Tabai's Ulysses de Amaral in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rio de Janeiro F. C.'s goalie prevented a goal. Ademar Ramos kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Caco da Mata shot from long distance after 92 played minutes, a shot that Carlos Fernando Maia with certain difficulty stopped from going in under the crossbar. Carlos Fernando Maia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulysses de Amaral in the 93rd minute of play. Carlos Fernando Maia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ulysses de Amaral's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ulysses de Amaral in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carlos Fernando Maia saved Rio de Janeiro F. C. from getting behind. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Tabai had played much better football throughout.
