Jorginho Ceresso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vágner Peixoto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Osmar Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Jorginho Ceresso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vágner Peixoto might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jorginho Ceresso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vágner Peixoto ran back to his position shaking his head. Vágner Peixoto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Ceresso having to interfere. A collision led to Seropedica getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Ronaldo Paulista hit a great ball. Osmar Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Vágner Peixoto made the kick off in the second half. Andrézinho Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luizinho Medeiros in the 53rd minute of play. The supporters of Seropedica booed when Zuba F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Beto Bertassi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maurinho Cosme scored 1-1 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Andrézinho Carioca, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Andrézinho Carioca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maurinho Cosme in the 62nd minute of the match. Luizinho Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrézinho Carioca having to interfere. Andrézinho Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurinho Cosme in the 69th minute of play. With his leg Jorginho Ceresso managed to avoid a goal in the 73rdth minute, when Zuba F. C.'s Rubinho Lopez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Beto Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vágner Peixoto in the 79thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jorginho Ceresso, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 85 minutes into the match, Zuba F. C.'s Rubinho Lopez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jorginho Ceresso narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
