In the 18th match minute, Esmeraldino FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edson Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. In the 23rd match minute, Esmeraldino FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vicente Velloso to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Eduardo Catarinense in the 24th minute of play forced Esmeraldino FC's goalkeeper Anísio Sampaio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Dráuzio Monteiro, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 41 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Anísio Sampaio was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Dráuzio Monteiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Esmeraldino FC's goalkeeper Anísio Sampaio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 57th minute, Anderson Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Msantos FC's Rogério Fantini got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dráuzio Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anísio Sampaio having to interfere. Valdomiro de Senna took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 63rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Anísio Sampaio. Esmeraldino FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Norberto Matos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Anísio Sampaio having to make a save. Anderson Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76th minute, Anderson Lara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Anísio Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dráuzio Monteiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. When the match had gone on for 90 minutes, Norberto Matos put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Anísio Sampaio. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Msantos FC had played much better football throughout.
