The supporters of Tapara EC booed when Josefina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivo Dracena didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 9 played minutes, Tapara EC's Erasmo Lago shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rafael Braga came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Tapara EC reached it. Elano Barral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Rafael Braga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gilberto Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafael Braga having to interfere. Rafael Braga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Paulo Gaspar, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. When Tapara EC's Gilberto Cearense in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Josefina's goalie prevented a goal. Gilberto Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. In the 37th minute, Elano Barral got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gilberto Cearense might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rafael Braga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gilberto Cearense ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 43 minutes, Elano Barral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tapara EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elano Barral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Elano Barral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kiko Guedes made a kick off. Tapara EC's Gilberto Cearense got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luís Paulo Gaspar scored 0-2 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rafael Braga, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Elano Barral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rafael Braga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gilberto Cearense went, in the 65th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. In the 69th match minute, Josefina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cafu Cosme to maneuver through the defense. Rafael Braga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elano Barral's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Virgílio Mendes's late challenge caught a Tapara EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Virgílio Mendes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 76th match minute, Josefina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgílio Mendes to maneuver through the defense. 82 minutes into the game, Ivo Dracena was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Josefina's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tapara EC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Josefina's Ivo Dracena got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Gilberto Cearense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 95 minutes, Elano Barral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tapara EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elano Barral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Josefina fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Tapara EC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
