Spectators: 6677 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1677, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Álvaro Neiva started the match with the kick off. In the 6th minute Attila Berkes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raphael de Carvalho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 12th minute, Luís Fernando Gaspar made a precise shot to the right of Raphael de Carvalho. Muller EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. When Attila Berkes came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Urawa Reds FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Attila Berkes couldn't finish the play. Bernardinho Rezende's late challenge caught a Urawa Reds FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bernardinho Rezende helped the player get up and apologised. Bernardinho Rezende kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Muller EC's zone, Luís Fernando Gaspar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raphael de Carvalho came out of the goal and Luís Fernando Gaspar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Enio de Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Álvaro Neiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 28 minutes into the match, Muller EC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Fernando Gaspar came free, but Raphael de Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Enéas Tinoco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Luís Fernando Gaspar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Enéas Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Raphael de Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Raphael de Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Fernando Gaspar in the 34th minute of play. If Luís Fernando Gaspar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 47 played minutes, Urawa Reds FC's Diguinho Capixaba shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Raphael de Carvalho came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Urawa Reds FC reached it. After the first half Urawa Reds FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

A hard shot 51 in the game by Luís Fernando Gaspar from a close distance when the talented Raphael de Carvalho managed to make a qualified save. Muller EC's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, Muller EC's Ulysses Rezende got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Nando Hoffmann hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Luís Fernando Gaspar who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 59thth minute tested the skills of Raphael de Carvalho when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With a little luck, Muller EC's Raphael de Carvalho got control of the ball when Luiz Fábio Porto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Raphael de Carvalho was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Diguinho Capixaba. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Luís Fernando Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Urawa Reds FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Fernando Gaspar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Raphael de Carvalho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 72 minutes into the game, Antônio Carlos de Amorim cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Enio de Sena was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 75th minute, Luís Fernando Gaspar fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Luís Fernando Gaspar struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Raphael de Carvalho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Urawa Reds FC. After a defensive mix-up in Muller EC's zone, Oswaldo Meira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raphael de Carvalho came out of the goal and Oswaldo Meira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Urawa Reds FC's Luís Fernando Gaspar in the 84th minute got a chance for a shot 84th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Muller EC's goalie prevented a goal. Attila Berkes was slow to take the kick. During this time Urawa Reds FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Urawa Reds FC's Attila Berkes to fire away a dangerous shot which Raphael de Carvalho despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a rather tough play, Muller EC's Antônio Carlos de Amorim got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Luís Fernando Gaspar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 96 played minutes Muller EC got a freekick which was hit by Joel Félix. Urawa Reds FC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
