When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Percy Pinho sped through Gondoleiros Sport Club's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gilvan Teixeira. Nando Vargas hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. When Claudinei Lago fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored São José F. C.'s protests and gave Claudinei Lago a yellow card for diving instead. Claudinei Lago kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Gilvan Teixeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Percy Pinho in the 33rd minute of the match. 41 minutes into the game, Percy Pinho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Gilvan Teixeira was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Gondoleiros Sport Club booed when São José F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Moreno didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlinhos Arruda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomé Barral having to interfere.

Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 62 played minutes São José F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Moreno. If Percy Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Percy Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Gilvan Teixeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Álvaro Pitta hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Percy Pinho got in the 80th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Gilvan Teixeira handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Percy Pinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Gilvan Teixeira made a huge save. Gilvan Teixeira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Percy Pinho in the 92nd minute.
