Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pedrinho Brito in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gilvan Paraense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Through an outstanding action, after 33 minutes, Severino Paraíba successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 37th minute, Evaristo Leão left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Capitão FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Severino Paraíba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Godoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The supporters of Capitão FC booed when Portilho F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evandro Catarinense didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pedrinho Brito to strike the kick off in the second half. Nelson de Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Severino Paraíba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 53 played minutes Portilho F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Arce. If Orlando Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Severino Paraíba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evaristo Leão in the 63rd minute of the match. Evaristo Leão took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Severino Paraíba.
