Matheus Leite could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Severino Paraíba made a huge save. Cléber Meireles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vânderson Vasconcelos, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. A collision led to Corrida getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Hélio da Fonseca hit a great ball. Cléber Meireles didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pedrinho Brito went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matheus Leite got free with Severino Paraíba in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Corrida getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Genílson Coutinho hit a great ball. When Pedrinho Brito came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Portilho F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedrinho Brito couldn't finish the play. 32 minutes into the match, Portilho F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Frank Moreno came free, but Severino Paraíba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Matheus Leite received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Severino Paraíba came out and tried to block the shot, but Matheus Leite slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 34th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Moreno in the 40th minute of play forced Portilho F.C.'s goalkeeper Severino Paraíba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Portilho F.C.'s zone, Hélio da Fonseca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Severino Paraíba came out of the goal and Hélio da Fonseca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vânderson Vasconcelos hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. In the 60th match minute, Portilho F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afonso Arce to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Afonso Arce during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Severino Paraíba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Moreno in the 69th minute of play. Portilho F.C.'s Afonso Arce got his second yellow card of the match in the 73rd minute.
