Hernani Tande showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caio Meireles, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Juaba's goalkeeper Hernani Tande, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Atlético Mineiro's Caio Meireles got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half Juaba were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Caio Meireles made a kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Gerson de Alcântara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atlético Mineiro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Juaba the free kick. A collision led to Atlético Mineiro getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Gerson de Alcântara hit a great ball. Sandrinho de Sousa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Virgílio Porto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aírton Lucas in the 58th minute. 60 minutes into the match, Sandrinho de Sousa dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Virgílio Porto, 0-3. After recieving a nice pass, Juaba's Pedro Luís Valladares tried to score from far away in the 64th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Aírton Lucas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Caio Meireles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hernani Tande was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. Sandrinho de Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgílio Porto having to interfere. Juaba's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
