Clóvis Aguiar blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Waldir Freitas having to make a save. Francisco Xavier might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Waldir Freitas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Francisco Xavier ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Barcetona defense, Clóvis Aguiar kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Waldir Freitas. The Barcetona fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Waldir Freitas should have stopped the shot. In the 17th minute, Clóvis Aguiar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 21st minute, one of Grêmio E. Cordovilense:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Grêmio E. Cordovilense. If Elder de Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elder de Moraes in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adriano Guimarães prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 28th match minute, Grêmio E. Cordovilense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélder Travassos to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Grêmio E. Cordovilense defense, Elder de Moraes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adriano Guimarães. The Grêmio E. Cordovilense fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adriano Guimarães should have stopped the shot. Francisco Xavier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Waldir Freitas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the game, Hélder Travassos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Grêmio E. Cordovilense's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barcetona the free kick. The supporters of Barcetona booed when Grêmio E. Cordovilense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélder Travassos didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bernardinho Meira to strike the kick off in the second half. Elder de Moraes might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adriano Guimarães. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 71stth minute of the game Francisco Xavier who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Barcetona's Waldir Freitas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio E. Cordovilense's zone, Elder de Moraes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adriano Guimarães came out of the goal and Elder de Moraes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elder de Moraes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adriano Guimarães having to interfere. Grêmio E. Cordovilense's Clóvis Aguiar got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adriano Guimarães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elder de Moraes in the 89th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elder de Moraes in the 99th minute of play forced Grêmio E. Cordovilense's goalkeeper Adriano Guimarães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
